Tour de Coeur 2008

The fifth annual Tour de Coeur is coming again to North Idaho on Sunday, September 7, 2008. This event is completely run by volunteers who are dedicated to the fight against cancer. All proceeds from Tour de Coeur are donated to the American Cancer Society to fund research and advocacy efforts as well as to provide programs and services for cancer patients and their families. Looking for additional information about the American Cancer Society? Log on to www.cancer.org or call 1-800-ACS-2345

What is Tour de Coeur?

Tour de Coeur is a full day of family fun, activity, food and entertainment created to promote the importance of physical activity and nutrition as cancer prevention. It was planned with families in mind. The day consists of bicycle rides for every member of the family, from a short one mile ride to 33 miles on the Centennial Trail along the scenic beauty of Lake Coeur d’Alene. For those family members who are looking for more of a challenge, the ride leaves the Centennial Trail and heads up on the surrounding hills. Riders can choose to complete the 33 or 66 mile loops with grades of up to 14%. This route has been dubbed the “33 mile ride that rides like 60”!! All routes are paved and the scenery is amazing. Three rest stops are provided along the Centennial Trail and two more are along the longer rides. Each rest area is fully stocked with fruit, snacks, water and energy drinks - and staffed by friendly volunteers! Want to get involved? We need volunteers and sponsors!

Staging area for all rides is in the parking area of Higgens Point at the end of Coeur d’Alene Lake Drive (map). After the riding is done, participants are encouraged to stay for the day for food, entertainment, vendor displays, raffles, informational opportunities, swimming, games and MORE! As always, complimentary massage is provided by Ezra Ziegler, Graduate Master Therapist at AlgauRythm.
